The Role 

The Communications and Operations Worker is responsible for Arabic Welfare’s Operational and communicational day to day tasks. The role requires strong communication and coordination skills, working closely with staff and supporting client and stakeholder queries.

Established in 1984, Arabic Welfare provides services to individuals and families from diverse Arabic speaking countries. We support our clients to realise their aspirations toward full participation in Australian life, and work closely with service providers to achieve this goal.  Arabic Welfare staff are bilingual and bicultural, and our team includes qualified and experienced social workers, counsellors, youth and community development workers and Registered Migration Agents.

Communications and Marketing: 

  •  Development and implementation of a communication and digital strategy. 
  • Maintain AW website and Facebook Page and develop updated content. 
  • Development of AW’s design and marketing guide, aligned with AW website and socials to ensure consistency across all marketing materials. 
  • Review, design and update of priority AW program brochures and related materials. 
  • Support with the development of community stories using various formats (ie. Video, photos).
  •  Development of Reports to reflect on communications and marketing strategies that have been put in place. 


  •  Record keeping of invoices – outgoing and incoming.
  • Preparation of staff timesheets and staff roster. 
  •  Organise Staff and Board meetings.
  •  Monitor and maintain stationary, office equipment and consumable supplies.
  •   Provide administrative and other staff support for client activities (incl. online). 
  •  Liaison with Property Manager regarding office related issues (incl. emergency procedures).
  •  Organise the archival and storage of records and files. 
  • General office maintenance and ensuring office is always kept orderly and clean. 
  •  Coordinate IT.
  •  Support and address client and general phone queries when required.
  •  Compile information and reports as requested in a timely manner.

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written). 
  • Demonstrable ability to display initiative, manage priorities, deal with multiple stakeholders, and show a proactive attitude. 
  • Excellent strategic thinking, creativity and ability to problem solve. 
  • Experience in development and implementation of communication and digital strategies. 
  • Experience in the development and design of marketing materials, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and design software (knowledge in Adobe editing tool is a plus) . 
  • In depth knowledge of migrant welfare services and service delivery. 
  • High level report writing skills. 
  • Bilingual – Fluent in both Arabic and English.


Tertiary qualification in marketing, communication or related field preferred.
